Matt Johnson Weddings – Wedding Photography Agreement (Plain English)
Thanks so much for considering / choosing me to capture your wedding. This is a summary of the important things you’re agreeing to when booking with me. Please read this alongside the full legal contract (that one always takes priority if there’s a conflict).
What you’re booking
I’ll photograph your wedding in my artistic style, like what you see on my website and Instagram.
I’ll choose and edit the final photos — I don’t give out unedited or RAW files.
Your photos will be delivered as high-resolution JPEGs in an online gallery.
The gallery will stay online for 18 months, but you need to download and back up your images within 7 days of delivery.
Payments
A booking fee is required to lock in your date. This is non-refundable.
The final balance is due 30 days before your wedding.
No photos will be released until the full amount is paid.
Film photography risks
I shoot weddings on film, which means sometimes things can go wrong outside my control — for example, issues at the lab, problems with film stock, or technical faults.
I take every precaution possible, but if something happens to the film that can’t be fixed, you’ll receive a 50% refund of your total fee.
Cancellation or postponement
If you cancel:
The booking fee is non-refundable.
If it’s within 30 days of the wedding, all payments are non-refundable.
You’ll also need to cover any unrecoverable expenses I’ve already paid for (like flights or accommodation).
If I need to cancel: you’ll receive a full refund, including your booking fee.
If you postpone: I’ll do my best to be available. If I can’t, I’ll help you find a replacement photographer. If you don’t want to go ahead with a replacement, the cancellation terms above apply.
Illness or emergencies
If I’m too sick or injured to shoot your wedding, I’ll do everything possible to find a replacement photographer.
If that’s not possible, you’ll receive a full refund.
Copyright & usage
I’ll always own the copyright to your photos.
You get a personal licence to print, share, and post your photos online.
Commercial use (like using the photos for a business) requires my written permission.
If you post your photos online, a tag or credit is always appreciated (@mattjohnsonweddings).
Use of photos
By booking, you agree that I can use your wedding photos in my portfolio, website, and social media (unless we agree otherwise in writing).
Legal bits
The contract is governed by Australian law (specifically New South Wales).
The full contract is the official, legally binding document.
